N2  - The primary aim of the book is to offer advice and guidance to those embarking on this very effective mode of teaching and learning. Learning environments and learner expectation have changed to some extent since the first edition of this book was published. Developments of the kind touched on in section 2.6 have allowed enhancements to the traditional written case. In a few instance, new media has replaced the printed case entirely. Despite these developments, the requests for cases received by ecch remain overwhelmingly for the traditional written case. I believe that the core elements of case teaching and case writing discussed in this guide will be helpful not only to those currently developing their skills but may, in addition, usefully inform the design and delivery of future innovations in the case method.
