Un viernes de mayo, con visos de ser un día perfecto, se produce una explosión extraña en un edificio de Lyon. En uno de los pisos del inmueble, que queda reducido a escombros, vive un grupo de estudiantes de distintos países que esa noche celebraba una fiesta. Paul, alumno de Bellas Artes; Emma, perseguida por la tortuosa historia de su familia española; Luca, fascinado tanto por las matemáticas como por el ciclista Marco Pantani; e Ilka, una estudiante que dejó Berlín con solo su guitarra a cuestas, son los inquilinos de una vivienda muy frecuentada por los universitarios de la ciudad. En el domicilio vecino, también afectado por la explosión, reside una discreta familia marroquí, en apariencia bien integrada en la vida francesa.
La novela explora lo sucedido desde varios puntos de vista. A través de cinco narradores, víctimas y testigos, conocemos qué ocurrió esa noche de viernes, así como sus consecuencias a lo largo de los tres años siguientes, hasta cubrir con sus relatos cada ángulo muerto de la explosión.
Rewind indaga en la posibilidad o imposibilidad de rebobinar, en los fantasmas personales, en los golpes de azar, en la persona que al final no somos, en los secretos que deben o no deben contarse y en la capacidad de las personas para rehacerse cuando se rompen. La novela es una maniobra de espionaje de los mecanismos de la propia vida, que cambia sin avisar, gira, salta por los aires y te destruye sin que estés preparado: y de manera igual de incomprensible o más, si eso no acaba contigo, permite que te rehagas y que sigas adelante.

An explosion in a building that marks a before and after. A novel about the possibility or not of rewinding. On a Friday in May, which seemed to be a perfect day, a strange explosion occurs in a building in Lyon. On one of the floors of the building, which is reduced to rubble, lives a group of students from different countries who were celebrating a party that night. Paul, a Fine Arts student; Emma, haunted by the tortuous history of her Spanish family; Luca, fascinated by both mathematics and the cyclist Marco Pantani; and Ilka, a student who left Berlin with only her guitar in tow, are the tenants of a flat that is very popular with the city's university students. In the neighbouring house, also affected by the explosion, lives a discreet Moroccan family, apparently well integrated into French life. The novel explores what happened from several points of view. Through five narrators, victims and witnesses, we learn what happened that Friday night, as well as its consequences over the following three years, until their accounts cover every dead angle of the explosion. Rewind explores the possibility or impossibility of rewinding, the personal ghosts, the blows of chance, the person we are not in the end, the secrets that should or should not be told, and the capacity of people to remake themselves when they are broken. The novel is an espionage manoeuvre of the mechanisms of life itself, which changes without warning, turns, leaps into the air and destroys you unprepared: and just as incomprehensibly or more so, if it doesn't finish you off, it allows you to remake yourself and move on.
